The Messenger: Trump Plans $1 Million ‘Family Style’ Mar-a-Lago Dinner to Raise Money for His Co-Defendants (Exclusive)

The Messenger

Former President Donald Trump is planning a candlelight dinner fundraiser with his sons at his Florida Mar-a-Lago club this fall to help pay the legal bills of those ensnared in the four separate criminal cases he faces, sources familiar with the effort tell The Messenger.

The exact date and details of the event – which could raise between $500,000 to $1 million – are still being ironed out for the Patriot Legal Defense Fund, according to two sources familiar with the planning who did not have authorization to speak on the record.

The fund is designed to primarily help Trump’s codefendants and witnesses in the cases against him, and it’s supposed to operate in tandem with Trump’s Save America PAC, which will primarily handle his legal bills, the sources said.

Mike Davis, a conservative attorney and Trump booster, said the fundraising is necessary to check the prosecutors who have charged Trump. Two are Democrats and federal prosecutor Jack Smith, a registered independent, was appointed by the Democratic attorney general who was nominated by the Democratic president, Joe Biden.

“Just responding to a subpoena can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Being a criminal defendant costs of hundreds of thousands,” he said. “That’s the point of this Democrat lawfare. They’re making the process the punishment. They don’t care if the Supreme Court ultimately rejects their bogus legal theories. The goal is to take out Trump and punish his supporters before Nov. 5, 2024.”
