A3P Statement on Confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett

WASHINGTON, DC — The Article III Project (A3P), which promotes and defends President Trump’s judicial nominees and appointed judges, released a statement from A3P founder and president Mike Davis following the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court:

“Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States is truly a historic moment. For the first time in more than 80 years, we will have a true conservative majority on the Supreme Court. This means that the Supreme Court will protect everyday Americans from government overreach and mob rule, whether it’s liberal politicians attempting to chase away Christians and other believers from the public square or otherwise punish them for their religious beliefs, silence conservatives on college campuses or cancelling Americans who express differing views in other public places, ban law-abiding Americans from owning guns to protect themselves and their families, or destroy American entrepreneurs and jobs through the unelected and largely unaccountable administrative state.

“In Justice Barrett, America liked what they saw at her confirmation hearing. And they should. Justice Barrett clearly demonstrated that she is an exceptionally well-qualified jurist, who had the best confirmation performance of any judicial nominee in our history.

“This 48-year-old federal appellate judge, Notre Dame law professor of the last 18 years, and mother of 7 – including 2 adopted from Haiti and 1 with Down Syndrome – will bring much-needed diversity and perspective to the Supreme Court. Indeed, Justice Barrett – who graduated #1 from Notre Dame Law School, served as the executive editor of the law review, and clerked for the late-Justice Scalia – is the only non-Ivy Leaguer on the Supreme Court. And she’s only the fifth woman and the first mother of school-aged kids to serve on the Supreme Court.

“Of course, this is not the “diversity” about which Democrats actually care; they only care about liberal-judicial activists, politicians in robes who will unconstitutionally enact policy from the bench instead of through the peoples’ representatives in Congress.

“The fact that every Senate Democrat voted against a Supreme Court nominee that even the liberal American Bar Association (ABA) rated as “well qualified” to serve – the Democrats’ supposed “gold standard” – says all we need to know about the Senate Democrats being captured by their extremist leftwing base, including Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.

“Today’s confirmation vote once again proves that Senate Democrats only pretend to care about diversity on the federal bench, but they don’t actually mean it. In fact, many Democrats have disgracefully attacked an exceptional woman for her faith and family since her first confirmation to the Seventh Circuit in 2017 – and almost all Senate Democrats have sat by and said nothing.

“In 2016, then-candidate Donald J. Trump campaigned on the promise of transforming the federal judiciary with jurists who follow – not disdain – our Constitution. With the appointments of Justice Gorsuch, Justice Kavanaugh, Justice Barrett, and a near-all-time-record 53 circuit judges (and counting) to the critically important federal courts of appeals, President Trump and Senate Republicans have more than delivered on that promise. In addition to appointing a true conservative majority to the Supreme Court, they have flipped the Second, Third, and Eleventh Circuits to majority conservative – and could flip all the remaining federal courts of appeals in President Trump’s second term.

“We particularly commend President Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, former Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, and current Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham for this historic achievement.”
