Democrats Must End Political Assault on Independent Judiciary

WASHINGTON – Mike Davis, Founder and President of the Article III Project (A3P), today released the following statement calling on liberal judicial groups to end their partisan political attacks on the Supreme Court for refusing to do the bidding of leftwing abortion activists.

“The federal judiciary is a separate and co-equal branch of government that is apolitical by design. Partisan, political attacks on the Supreme Court’s independence undermine public confidence in the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court’s wise decision to refrain from weighing in on the constitutionality of a law until it determines it is ready to do so should be praised by both sides of the abortion debate. This may be news to liberals, but it’s not the Supreme Court’s job to do the bidding of the abortion industry. It’s a shame that groups like Demand Justice care more about inflaming their liberal donor base than the most fundamental of American institutions. Whatever and whenever the Supreme Court decides regarding the fate of Roe, liberal partisan political actors must respect its independent and apolitical decision.”

The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times. A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream.

Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
