Article III Project Statement on President Trump’s Reported Indictment

WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, Founder and President of the Article III Project, issued the following statement after reports surfaced of a Manhattan grand jury voting to indict former President Donald Trump:

“The Democrats’ political witch hunt against former President Trump never ends. Soros-funded Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has been hell-bent for months on indicting Trump for non-felonies, in an obvious attempt to influence the 2024 presidential election. Bragg is now indicting Trump on a bogus, trumped-up felony charge based upon a novel legal theory previously rejected by Bragg himself, the Manhattan DA’s office, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, and the Federal Election Commission.

“If anything, this indictment only emboldens Trump and his supporters, along with bolstering his chances to win a second term in the White House. Bragg and his leftist allies are attempting to make a case where there simply isn’t one, as even The New York Times has indicated. Using Bragg’s laughable legal theory, maybe the Manhattan DA’s office should indict Bragg for his illegal in-kind contribution to Trump’s campaign?

“The Manhattan limousine liberals cheering Bragg’s indictment of Trump will soon get mugged by the reality of Bragg’s political distractions and dangerous amnesty for violent criminals in Manhattan. Under Bragg, Manhattan has devolved into a crime-ridden, dystopian hellhole. Bragg has downgraded more than half of his felony cases to misdemeanors and cut sweetheart plea deals for rapists and murderers.

“Rather than fulfilling his mandate of ensuring safety and enforcing the rule of law for those who elected him, Bragg chose to engage in purely partisan politics. He’d rather waste limited resources by undermining Trump’s candidacy to show how much of a party loyalist he is rather than enforce the law and keep New Yorkers safe. Bragg offers significantly more leniency to dangerous felons who attack elderly Asian women on the New York subway than Republican businessmen who settle nuisance civil claims to make bottom-feeders go away. For all their talk of preserving and protecting democracy over the last few years, Democrats like Bragg are doing everything possible to destroy it. Soros has invested wisely in Bragg,” said Davis.

The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.

A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
