Article III Project Statement on Latest ProPublica Hit Piece on Justice Clarence Thomas

WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, Founder and President of the Article III Project, issued the following statement after ProPublica published their latest article attacking Justice Clarence Thomas.

“The latest leftwing attack on Justice Clarence Thomas is truly a new low. Clarence and Ginni Thomas took in their great nephew, a 6-year-old boy in dire need. This was a tremendous personal sacrifice for the Thomases. Of course, their best friends Harlan and Kathy Crow got to know the young boy for the 12 years the Thomases raised him.

“The Crows pitched in to try to help him. They had no business before the Court. They did this because they are good people. These leftwing ‘ethics experts’ need to get their eyes checked. The law is clear that Justice Thomas did nothing wrong. They also need to get their hearts checked. To smear the Thomases and the Crows for trying to save a young man’s life is truly despicable.”

The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.

A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
