A3P Statement Urging The Senate to Reject Radical Kristen Clarke

WASHINGTON – Mike Davis, Founder and President of the Article III Project (A3P), today released the following statement urging the Senate to reject the nomination of extreme radical Kristen Clarke and her anti-police, anti-religious liberty agenda.

“Violent crime and murder rates are skyrocketing across the country because of the radical left’s anti-police policies and rhetoric. For months, rioters have been destroying property and violently assaulting – sometimes even killing – Americans who dare to fight back, including the police. At a time when our law enforcement officers on the front lines are facing a violent crime wave, Kristen Clarke’s ‘defund the police’ agenda would encourage and enable the most dangerous of left-wing extremists. Despite her attempts to walk back her past statements, today’s hearing confirmed that Kristen Clarke is the same left-wing radical she’s been her entire career.

“Kristen Clarke’s extremism isn’t limited to wanting to defund the police. She has railed against religious liberty and has a documented track record of opposing the rights of religious Americans. How can any Democrat honestly say that Kristen Clarke would fairly and equally protect the rights of religious Americans at the helm of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division? It’s clear that Kristen Clarke lacks the independent judgment needed to enforce our nation’s civil rights laws. Kristen Clarke is committed to the woke rule of identity politics, not the rule of law. Her confirmation would be a disaster for the nation.

“The divisions in our country run deep—an unapologetic radical like Kristen Clarke is the worst choice at the worst moment to lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. The Judiciary Committee should promptly reject her nomination to send an unequivocal signal to the Biden administration that radical nominees outside the mainstream will not be rubber stamped by the Senate. Every Senate Democrat who votes for Kristen Clarke will be telling their voters exactly where they stand on defunding the police. Senators like Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, Maggie Hassan and Raphael Warnock should speak out strongly against her nomination and make clear to their voters that they won’t just talk the talk when it comes to supporting America’s law enforcement officers.”

The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times. A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream.

Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
