A3P Calls on DOJ to Investigate Hate Crime Against Larry Elder

WASHINGTON – Mike Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, issued the following statement calling on Attorney General Merrick Garland to open a civil rights investigation into the suspected hate crime committed against California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder:

“We were all shocked to witness the racist assault against Larry Elder, a leading California gubernatorial candidate, by a bigoted liberal activist in California. Elder’s conservative views don’t align with white liberals’ political expectations of Black Americans, so they think racist attacks like this become acceptable forms of retribution. Black Americans who don’t subscribe to white liberal political orthodoxy are subject to harassment and apparently in California even physical abuse. Attorney General Merrick Garland must immediately launch a civil rights investigation into this horrific act of racism.

“The federal government has a track record of opening civil rights investigations into completely innocuous events when a Democrat cries racism. Take, for example, the Bubba Wallace investigation last year. FBI Director Christopher Wray sent 15 FBI agents down to Talladega, Alabama to investigate what people claimed was a noose, but it turned out to be a garage pull that is standard across garages nationwide. There was little evidence that this was a racist act, but in Elder’s case, we have well-documented footage of a woman assaulting a Black man while wearing a gorilla mask.

“This should be an open-and-shut case for the Department of Justice to investigate. Along with Attorney General Garland, this should be a priority for his top lieutenants, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Kristen Clarke, and FBI Director Chris Wray, if they want to show they’re capable of executing the roles of their offices in a nonpartisan manner. Hate crimes like the one we witnessed against Larry Elder should not be tolerated in America, period. If no action is taken by the federal government against the white liberal who attacked Elder, it will serve as more evidence that the political and governmental establishment in Washington, D.C. only investigates racism when the victim is a Democrat.”

The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported inThe New York Times. A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream.

Mike Davis is also the founder and president of Unsilenced Majority, an organization dedicated to opposing cancel culture and fighting back against the woke mob and their enablers. Davis also leads the Internet Accountability Project(IAP), an advocacy organization fighting to rein in Big Tech.
