A3P Asks Senate Judiciary Democrats to Sign Article VI Pledge to Refrain from Anti-Catholic Attacks Against Judge Amy Coney Barrett
The Article III Project (A3P), which promotes and defends President Trump’s judicial nominees and appointed judges, is asking Senate Judiciary Democrats to sign a pledge promising to refrain from any attacks on Amy Coney Barrett’s Catholic faith.
The pledge specifically calls for the signers to respect Article VI of the Constitution’s bar on religious tests for federal office, as well as the First Amendment, which protects the free exercise of religion.
“The Constitution guarantees the right to free exercise of religion and bars all religious tests for federal office,” said A3P Founder and President Mike Davis. “Over the past several years of confirmation hearings, Senate Judiciary Democrats Diane Feinstein, Kamala Harris, Dick Durbin, and Mazie Hirono have clearly demonstrated that the anti-Catholic bigotry lives loudly within them. That is unacceptable, unconstitutional, and we challenge every Democrat on the Committee to sign the Article VI pledge and refrain from any and all attacks on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Catholicism.”
A3P determined that a pledge was necessary, as Senators Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin attacked Judge Coney Barrett for her Catholic faith during her 7th Circuit Court of Appeals confirmation hearing. Additionally, Senators Kamala Harris and Mazie Hirono confronted U.S. District Judge Brian Buescher during his confirmation hearing about his membership in the Catholic men’s charity Knights of Columbus.
In fact, on September 30, Hirono doubled down on the anti-Catholic line of attack suggesting that it was fair game.
Additionally, anti-Catholic news articles have been pushed by the left and all but the most naïve of Washington D.C. operatives suspect that these narratives have been pushed by the allies of Senate Judiciary Democrats.
