WASHINGTON — Following the conclusion of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s testimony at her Supreme Court hearing, Article III Project (A3P) Founder and President Mike Davis issued the following statement announcing opposition to her confirmation.
“It’s now clear that Judge Jackson wasn’t properly vetted by the Biden administration. Judge Jackson inadequately addressed questions about her record on lenient sentences for convicted child sex abuse criminals. Senate Democrats watched her flounder and could say nothing to dispute the facts. They are now starting to panic. Ketanji Brown Jackson lacks the judgment needed to be a Supreme Court Justice.
“Senator Durbin has done everything in his power to withhold Judge Jackson’s records on the Sentencing Commission and pre-sentencing reports, which would include information about the controversial child sex abuse cases discussed at the hearing. This is a cover-up. For all seven cases that dealt with child pornography over which Judge Jackson presided and had discretion, she ordered sentences well below what was recommended both by government guidelines and prosecutors. It is simply unacceptable that Durbin withheld critical information on these cases from the American people. Regardless, Judge Jackson did not provide any redeeming context or reasoning for her soft-on-crime sentences, one of which we know led to a pedophile reoffending when he should have been locked up instead of back at it after only 3 months in prison. This proves her judgment is dangerous and disqualifying. Democrats should go back to the drawing board and nominate someone with the record and judgment needed to serve on the highest court in the land,” said Davis.
Throughout the Jackson hearing, Article III Project has provided research that demonstrated Jackson’s refusal to hand out strict sentences to sex offenders. Earlier this week, A3P issued a statement accusing Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) of covering up Jackson’s leniency for child sexual predators in her rulings.
The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times. A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream.
Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
